Title Tag
The Title of your page is one of the most important elements of your web page. You certainly want to know the Keyword that you are targeting and be sure to include your Keyword in the title.
You may have to do some keyword research to reveal what your main Keywords are. I guess you already know what they are. They would be what you are selling or what you want people to find you with when they type these Keywords in the search engines.
The title is one of the meta tags. There are few other meta tags such as keywords and description which I will cover later.
In this example the Keyword for this page is “SEO Updates”. Here is what your title looks:

Notice how the Keyword is toward the beginning of the title. It’s better to start with your Key Phrase first in the title, and not make the title too long.
Remember that your Keyword is the subject of the website and you want to place the Keyword into the Meta title tag. I would suggest you to use unique Titles and Descriptions for every internal page.
Remember your website title is one of the most important elements. Make sure to work on it and make the title informative and catchy. Think of the title as your main headline and be sure to include your main Keyword in the title. The closer to the beginning the Keyword is positioned, you can expect the results better. The Keyword may be a single word but most likely will be two to three words. It is easier to get ranked for longer keywords(long tail keywords).
Tip: Use a 23 words Keyword for easier ranking.
Things to Remember While choosing a Title:
- Should contain your keyword.
- No longer than 60 characters.
- Should be unique on each page.
- The Title Tag should include the Keyword located toward the beginning.
- Make the title informative or like a great headline(catchy).
Here’s a look at a Google search for SEO Updates. Keep in mind that some Keywords are harder to rank well for. Even if you have a harder ranking Keyword you can still move up in the rankings by carefully applying these valuable points to your website.
Also look for new phrases to work in. Instead of “Send Money”, try for “Send Money To India” for example. Remember your page should focus on one main subject. If you try to rank for too many keywords on one page then you could dilute you SEO efforts overall.
To be in Brief:
- One Keyword per page
- Use the Keyword in your Title Tag
- Use it in the H1 header text right in the beginning of your content
- Try to make the Title Tag and the H1 Header text match if possible
- Use your Keyword in the beginning of your content and throughout your page
- Don’t overdo any of these points by adding your Keywords too often. That would be considered as spamming and you could be penalized by the search engines(Be Carefull).
